Water and air temps inaccuracy

We've got this 2016 Cobalt R3 with the standard gauge and both the water and air temp readings are always about 10-15 degrees too high. Not really a big deal to me, just wondering, can the sensors be relocated or calibrated? Or is this just how they all are?
 
I had a similar issue on a buddy's 2017 R, the temps always ran hotter than actual, and we found out that the sensors are factory-set and can't really be calibrated easily. Some folks install aftermarket gauges for more accuracy, but most just live with it unless the readings swing wildly, it's pretty common on these, especially with the standard gauges.

That is such a bummer, is there really no other way?
 
My cousin's boat had the same issue, the air temperature was always reading "sunbaked" because of where the sensor was placed. He decided to shift it slightly out of the direct sunlight, and that made a difference. It wasn't a perfect fix, but it brought the readings closer to what you'd expect in the real world without having to replace the whole setup.

Smart! Do you know if your cousin used any specific method or materials to reposition and protect the sensor from direct sunlight? Also, did moving it affect any other readings or functionality?
