I placed a deposit on a custom R4S, moving up from my old Cobalt 206. I'm leaning toward a white hull with black stripe, but debating a dark bottom, I am worried about scratches and stains, and also curious about ceramic coating for easier cleanup. What size fenders work best for R series?

Our company once chose a black hull with white boot stripe and ceramic coating, and even with a few bumps from tie-ups, it cleans up pretty easily. Like my black truck, it takes a bit more care but we love the look. Honestly speaking, boat condition comes down to the owner. One guy on our dock has a 15 y.o Chaparral that looks brand new, while a newer Cobalt nearby already looks rough. Pick the color that makes you want to keep it looking good. Good luck

Congrats on the R4S!

The white hull with the black stripe looks great. A dark bottom is sleek, but it can get scratched and stained easier, especially in saltwater. A ceramic coating can help with cleanup, but you'll still need to wash it often.

For fenders, I'd recommend about 6.5 x 23 (like the Taylor Made A-4) — that size works well for the R4S's length and width. Make sure to use clips or lines to keep them in place.

I'm considering the black hull now, but I'm a bit nervous about everyday wear especially scratches from docks or fenders. Any recommendations on fender sizes or types that work best for the R series?

That Taylor Made A-4 size sounds perfect. I'll look into clips to keep them secure
